So I started writing this post with this sentence “One of the best parts of my job”… and well, there are many great parts of being a photographer…one of them is being able to incapsulate special moments for random strangers… and these random strangers? Usually become my friends or close acquaintances… This is one of the best perks — building relationships with people…hearing their story, where they came from, how they got to where they are today, watching them interact with their loved ones… and being invited to share such special moments in their lives… whether it’s a wedding day… a once a year family portrait… or sharing in the joys of their first baby… these perks along with a slue of others — is why I love what I do…
A year ago this past June, I captured Vy & Scott’s wedding day… to date, it’s one of my favorite weddings because I had two hours to play with the bride and groom between the ceremony and the reception… do you know what this is to a photographer? It — is — HEAVEN! I mean usually on a wedding, I’m lucky if I have 30 solid minutes alone with the bride & groom… anyway, back to Vy & Scott… Vy emailed me announcing that they had a baby girl (Magnolia) and that she would be in town visiting her parents… she asked if I had any time during her visit for a little photo shoot with her family… and yes, of course I was excited to do her family photo shoot! I was so delighted to see Vy from being a beautiful bride… to a beautiful mommy… now to the pictures… here are some of my favorites… enjoy! And happy Friday!

And how could I not share a couple of favorites of Maggie’s Mom & Dad’s wedding day? I couldn’t… so here are a few of my favorites =)

Vy - Who are those good looking people? Wait..that’s us! You gave us such a good time, and I really like that you can’t tell that in every photo shoot it was like 5 million degrees. Such beautiful images, Jamilah!
Jamilah - Thanks, Vy! I know — it was scorching HOT that day! But it was fun nonetheless and I’m very happy I got to capture you and your family while you were here =)
Katia - Jamilah this is such a beautiful post. I also get called by clients that are or had babies, isn’t that beautiful? The first picture is such a tender moment with grandma. OMG I loved it…it was a great capture my friend and vavavooom on the wedding pictures…those are very nice too, I am gonna steal that pose (them hugging/bride’s profile) so beautiful and sultry!
